Based on their own characteristics and explorations, SUIS schools have formed humanity courses with their own features, including “Cultural Walk” activities, Philosophy for Children (P4C) courses, Model National People’s Congress & CPPCC, and Intercontinental Carnival.

Cultural Walk” Activities

“Cultural Walk” is by no means a simple walking tour, nor is it a form of pure classroom learning. It’s an approach between walking and touring, as well as an integration of both. It is an interdisciplinary thematic learning activity based on students’ developmental needs around the theme of humanities studies, with the curriculum content of the language subject as the mainstay, and the knowledge and methods of other subjects being applied and integrated.

Philosophy for Children

The new curriculum standard points out that it is necessary to implement the cultivation of morality, strengthen the guidance of correct values, pay attention to cultivating students’ patriotism, sense of social responsibility, innovative spirit and practical ability, and face the future. Philosophy for children provides an implementation path for the implementation of the new curriculum standards.

Model National People’s Congress & CPPCC

The course is currently conducted in the form of a club. The teacher organizes students to listen to expert classes, conduct social field surveys and prepare for mock meetings of the NPC and CPPCC Standing Committee in the school. All these efforts aim to enhance students’ sense of social responsibility, civic consciousness and participation as well as foster their spirit of teamwork.

Intercontinental Carnival

The Intercontinental Carnival is positioned as a bilingual, interdisciplinary and cross-cultural theme experience activity course. It builds a bridge connecting sub-subject teaching around the themes of the seven continents of the world, guides students to conduct in-depth research and practice, and allows students to create, verify, and improve in the activity.

Based on their own characteristics and explorations, SUIS schools have formed science courses with their own features, including STEM, PBL in Natural Science, Inquiry-based Learning and Global Perspectives.

STEM Curriculum

Based on the national curriculum, the STEM curriculum focuses on core issues and integrates multidisciplinary knowledge in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. The courses have students explore scientists, provoke them to think more deeply, develop their comprehensive overall thinking ability.

PBL in Natural Science

PBL (Project based learning) means that students re- construct their core knowledge and transfer their thinking through continuous exploration of real and challenging problems over a period of time.

Inquiry-based Learning

The overall objective of inquiry-based learning is to help students grow their skills as researchers so that they are equipped to find answers to their own questions and wonderings. The additional objectives include developing students’ related knowledge, concepts and values.

Global Perspectives

“Global Perspectives” is a pioneering course that breaks the traditional disciplinary framework and cultivates interdisciplinary ability. It aims to develop the skills of contemporary students in interdisciplinary learning through group work, presentations, project research, and cross-disciplinary seminars.
